Pirna
The Place
The town of Pirna, approx. 20 kilometres from Dresden, is often described as the gateway to Saxon Switzerland. It is well worth taking a walk around the old town of Pirna. Visit the town hall in the center of the market place, which unites stylistic elements from five centuries. Behind the buildings on the eastern side of the market, you will find the impressive town church of St. Marien, built in the 16th century on the site of an even older church. Its steep roof can already be seen from a distance on the River Elbe. The town museum is housed in the Dominican monastery.
Sightseeing Tips
Enjoy walks to the Baroque Gardens in Gross-Sedlitz, the Liebethaler Gorge with its Richard Wagner monument and to the Richard Wagner Museum in Graupa.

You can reach Pirna with the regular services „Saxon Swizerland“, „Elbe Valley Cruise“ and „National Park Line“.
